This 6 week course will provide you with a safe and judgement-free space to allow you to slow down and reconnect with yourself and your environment in the present moment. Using experimental movement and sensory awareness we will gently explore our nervous system, gain resilience and empower us to feel more confident and alive, as we begin to embody our expanded, authentic self.
We will start each week with a group discussion about what brings us together and what changes we have observed in ourselves since the explorations of the previous week. We will then spend some time to allow ourselves to truly come into the present moment and into our body.
Space and privacy is given for each one of us to notice what we are holding in our body in this moment in time. You will be given simple, yet powerful tools to help you settle your nervous system and gain the resources you need to begin unwinding what is giving you discomfort and holding you back.
Each session will offer a particular theme or focus around embodied self-exploration, self-regulation and self-expansion, which we will explore through exercises and practices drawn from Somatic Movement and Somatic Experiencing. Each session will also provide a brief introduction to neuro-scientific theory, to help you orient within your experimental practice and to give you the understanding of what you are navigating inside.
Towards the end of each session time is given to allow new experiences and shifts in the nervous system to integrate and settle. We will close each session by coming together as a group to share and digest our experiences together.
After you finish the course you will know what it is like to truly embody yourself. You will have gained experience of how to regulate your nervous system and take care of your body. Hence you will likely have been able to reduce physical and emotional discomforts and increased resilience for the challenges in your life.
