In five exclusive workshops, you will learn to unwind, balance stress levels and take good care of your body-mind using self-massage and meditation techniques that can be applied anywhere by yourself. You will learn to revitalise your face, detoxify your body and improve your mental health by simply tuning-in to your needs.
These workshops will be led by a very experienced body and face therapist, and art and health practitioner. Alice Motta combines self-care routines, that work on a preventive way, helping to strengthen the immune system and provide support to our mental health. Each session offers a holistic approach on how to take yourself and your well-being seriously, learning to accept your body with self-compassion and listen to its needs, giving what it asks for in a intuitive and integrative way.
Why self-massage? Touch plays a fundamental role in our well-being. By triggering oxytocin, the “love hormone” and by the activation of the vagus nerve, it sends a compassionate response to our bodies, building a sense of safety and warmth. In times of isolation and uncertainty, knowing how to manipulate our bodies in an intentional and calming way, makes us feel looked after and nurtured, which can be life changing. In these sessions we will massage our bodies and faces with confidence, integrating acceptance and love for our whole selves.
Developing an intuitive listening of your body is a life changing habit to be embraced!
We will use touch, imagination, sound, movement and grounding techniques in simple and fun exercises to wrap up the day, inviting focus and presence and welcoming rest to our body-mind. This practice envisions to build safe and positive memories of joy and care in your own company in times of isolation and to bring softness into our daily lives, specially in challenging moments.
On our fourth encounter, on the 9th of July, we will have a special guest, Manuela Benini, offering us a Gong-Bath 10 minutes session to close our practice in a deeply relaxing, mindful and connected way.
This course is designed and led by Alice Motta, a Brazilian physical theatre trained actress and massage therapist who is with the core team of Intercultural Roots, and is based between Lisbon and London (see full bio).
