Takumã Kuikuro is a filmmaker, creator of the 1st Indigenous Film and Culture Festival and founder of the Kuikuro Cinema Collective. He is president of the Alto Xingu Family Institute (IFAX). He currently lives in the village of Ipatse, in the Xingu Indigenous Territory. His films have won awards at national festivals, such as those in Gramado and Brasília, and international ones, such as Terres em Vues - Présence Autochtone, in Montreal, Canada. Among the award-winning films is the documentary feature film As Hiper Mulheres (2011), which was co-directed by Leonardo Sette and Carlos Fausto. In 2017, Takumã received the Honorary Fellowship Award from Queen Mary University - London, England. In 2019, he was the first indigenous juror at the Brasília Brazilian Cinema Festival. He is also the creator and curator of the 1st Brazil Indigenous Film Festival UK. He curated the exhibition Xingu Contacts and the Exhibition Demarcation of screens and revolution of images: celebrating indigenous audiovisual production in Brazil, both held this year by the Moreira Salles Institute. In 2023, he won the 22nd edition of the Brazilian cinema grand prize.
